Pan

The View | Zoom | Pan command allows you to move the visible area of the plot window without changing the magnification. This is particularly useful when working in a zoomed-in view, such as when digitizing data points or fine-tuning the position of labels with the Move Labels command.

Using the Pan Command

  1. Click the View | Zoom | Pan command. The cursor changes to a hand .

  2. Click and hold the left mouse button in the plot window.

  3. Drag the mouse to move the view.

  4. To exit Pan mode, press the ESC key, click the Pan command again, or select another tool.

Pan with a Wheel Mouse

You can pan in the plot window using a wheel mouse without activating the Pan command. This allows you to adjust your view while remaining in other tool modes.

  1. Press and hold the mouse wheel (middle mouse button). The cursor changes to a closed hand, .

  2. Drag the mouse to pan the view.

  3. Release the mouse wheel to stop panning and return to your previous cursor.

  • Note: You can also rotate the mouse wheel forward to zoom in or backward to zoom out relative to the cursor position.
